Race across the arctic snow desert on powerful snowmobiles.

The snowmobile is an important vehicle for the inhabitants of Nordkyn. It allows everyone to enjoy the winter countryside, and is a practical tool for transporting equipment to wilderness cabins. Two thirds of the local populace are snowmobile owners, and the driving season lasts from December to mid-May.

Snowmobile driving in Norway is highly regulated, and it is important to stay on designated scooter trails to ensure the safety of animals, nature and other mountain travelers.

Snowmobile Trips in Lapland and the Polar Night

From December to May, Arctic Coast provides two-hour snowmobile safaris between Kjøllefjord and Mehamn - both night (Hurtigruten southbound voyages) and day (northbound voyages). We make a few stops to enjoy the light of the Polar region - the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis), and the stars and moon of the night sky reflected in mountain snow.

On our night safaris we make a stop at our Lavvu (Sami tent), where we serve warm drinks around an open fire. Our guides tell stories about living in Europe's northernmost mainland, and about reindeer herding in Nordkyn.

We offer complete instruction in snowmobile driving, and of course provide necessary equipment and warm clothing.
